Artificial turf with filling sand

What is the difference between artificial turf with and without filler sand?
There are two varieties of synthetic turf, those with and those without filling sand. The new generation artificial turf requires no filling sand. 

With artificial turf with filling sand is after laying + / - brushed in 12kg per M2 quartz sand. This ensures that the individual stalks remain upright. When artificial turf without filling sand a specially crimped yarn is woven, so that the stalks remain upright. Incidentally, this makes it very soft and children find it great.
